This Engineering Technician position is with Federal Aviation Administration (Department of Transportation) in Davis Monthan AFB, AZ.
This is a temporary position not-to-exceed two (2) years; it may be extended, terminated or become permanent without further competition. If this position remains temporary, upon completion of this assignment, the selected employee shall return to his/her original permanent position or an equivalent position in the same commuting area. Incumbent serves as a journeyman level Engineering Technician for Engineering Services.
Key duties:
• Incumbent plans, coordinates, and performs highly specialized technical work associated with the following: Coordinates outages with the SSC (System Support Center) and AT (Air Traffic) as required for the project. Applies broad experience and advanced technical knowledge in interpreting drawings, review installation designs and specifications. Verifies project material, manage project logistics, purchase materials, determines and implements construction methods used in the install/construct/integrate of equipment and systems. Coordinates activities with stakeholders, provides project status updates, attends project meetings, executes site surveys, participates in Contractor Acceptance Inspection (CAi's) and Joint Acceptance Inspection (JAl's). May serves as COTR (Contracting Officer Technical Representative), overseeing work activities to ensure contract requirements are met. May be required to coordinate between the Project Engineer and the CO (Contracting Officer) or other stakeholders. Incumbent maintains technical competency on legacy systems as well as installs and integrates new systems. Uses appropriate technical documentation such as FAA Orders for guidance. Exercise practical judgment and discretion in accomplishing work assignments in a safe manner. Possesses broad knowledge of FAA policies and procedures pertaining to the work environment such as (OSHA) Occupational Safety Health Administration. Works with a high degree of independence, keeping the manager advised of significant problem areas. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the NAS as an integrated system in order to deal with unusual problems or unanticipated issues. May be called upon to provide guidance and training to other employees. Work is reviewed in terms of appropriateness of actions taken, thoroughness, and the achievement of overall objectives. Work may have direct impact on air traffic control operations. Contacts are internal and external to the organization such as, but not limited to State and Federal Agencies, Defense (DOD), airport management, contractors, and utility companies. Performs other project related tasks as required/needed.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to Pay Band FV-G/Level II. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience may include but is not limited to: Experience providing technical support associated with analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, modifying, or evaluating systems. Experience as a principal technician or team leader for projects and/or program areas. Specialist must be UPS and DC BUS certified. Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
