Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Lifecycle Marketing is responsible for designing and optimizing the digital communication strategy that connects fans with Sun Devil Athletics throughout every stage of their journey. This role owns the development of personalized, data-driven lifecycle marketing programs across email, SMS, push notifications and other emerging channels to drive ticket sales, fan engagement, retention and long-term loyalty. Working closely with Marketing, Ticketing, Development, Digital and Creative teams, this position transforms customer data into meaningful experiences that deepen relationships and maximize lifetime fan value.
This role combines audience segmentation, CRM management, email marketing, paid media, and automation to deliver personalized messages based on fan behavior and interests. By leveraging platforms such as TicketMaster, customer databases, and digital analytics tools, a Lifecycle Marketer ensures the right message reaches the right fan at the right time, whether the goal is to sell season tickets, increase attendance at Olympic sports, drive donations, or deepen engagement with student-athletes and team stories. They develop campaigns that welcome new ticket buyers, re-engage lapsed customers, reward loyal season ticket holders, and promote cross-selling opportunities across sports and events.
This position works closely with ticket sales, development, creative, and digital teams to build automated communication journeys that strengthen the fan experience and maximize revenue.
The position adheres to NCAA and Big 12 rules and regulations, as well as policies and procedures of the department, the university, and the Arizona Board of Regents.
Position Salary Range:
• $75,000 - $90,000 annually; DOE
Essential Duties:
• Drive engagement and increase fan loyalty for the Sun Devil Athletics, its 26 teams and our student athletes
• Own end-to-end strategy, planning and execution of season and single game ticket member communication journey across digital channels for Sun Devil Athletics – increasing fan loyalty and driving member retention
• Lead journey mapping, automation, and lifecycle strategies for all Sun Devil Athletics audiences
• Drive growth of mobile marketing channels, including push opted-in and SMS audiences, through targeted acquisition campaigns
• Develop behavioral-based triggers, automations and customer journeys across multiple digital channels leveraging the integration between the enterprise marketing automation platform and Customer Data Platform (CDP)
• Leverage insights and campaign performance to inform future recommendations and initiatives
• Maintain complex messaging calendars, journey maps and documentation to provide a centralized view and ensure accuracy as plans evolve
• Develop campaign briefs and marketing plan proposals in line with strategic objectives and audiences
• Build, execute and create reporting of all emails, text messages and app notifications
• Partner with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and goals and ensure alignment and coordination with other digital approaches towards key business strategies and objectives
• Continuously research emerging trends and best practices in the data privacy, lifecycle and digital marketing spaces
• Play a key role in process evolution and efficiency across the cross-functional teams
• Contribute to other digital projects as needed
Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field and seven (7) years of experience in the program of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
• 3+ years of email marketing experience, preferably on an enterprise ESP and/or Marketing Automation platform
• 3+ years of experience supporting multi-channel lifecycle marketing programs and initiatives; comfortable with audience segmentation, automation strategy, and marketing using digital channels (email, push notifications, SMS, in-app, website, etc.)
• 1+ years of experience using CRM, CDP, or other data management platforms to target audiences, leveraging customer personas, preferences, and interests to drive creation of personalized engagement strategies
• Experience building behavioral triggers, automations and journeys within an ESP or marketing automation platform
• Basic knowledge of HTML and/or CSS preferred
• Experience working in sports: Collegiate, minor or professional environment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

• Experience in analyzing attendance percentages at games.
• Experience serving fan experience activities for multiple sports.
• Experience with decision-making and conflict resolution

Working Environment:
• Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%)
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%)
