Assistant Research Scientist - Children's Research Center

This Assistant Research Scientist - Children's Research Center position is with University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. Design and conduct moderately complex research experiments in GI- related research. May include formulating research methods and establishing appropriate benchmarks. Independently execute experiments, collect and analyze generated data using cell biology tools, flow cytometry, imaging, immunological and molecular biological assays in vitro and in vivo. Maintain record of studies and data. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians and data scientists. Lead coordination efforts for research projects with multiple investigators Prepare reports, abstracts and manuscripts for publication that describe the experiments, resulting findings and conclusions. Attend and present findings at lab meetings. Present findings at conferences and contribute to grant proposals. Assist with grants and with development of new research directions using good organizational and writing skills. Utilize strong leadership skills to assist laboratory members with on-going experiments as needed; mentor and train graduate students, undergraduates and other laboratory fellows. Participate in the development of research and overall laboratory protocols. Knowledge, Skills Abilities: Knowledge and experience with mouse models of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Practical knowledge of flow cytometry, including spectral flow cytometry and related analytical tools. Extensive knowledge and experience with cell culture techniques, including intestinal organoid and/or induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) culture and differentiation protocols.
