Baker I (Academic)

This Baker I (Academic) position is with University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. Bakes pastry items according to pre-established recipes. Decorates pastries in a consistent style. Follows plating and display standards. Follows portion standards. Maintains inventory of prepped ingredients. Prevents cross contamination of food products. Weighs, labels and dates all food items; store in designated areas. Cleans counter tops, walls, shelves, drain screens and floor mats. Sends all utensils to be washed and when returned; checks to see that all utensils are properly stored. Empties sanitizer and takes out trash. Keeps floors and work area clean and dry to prevent injury. Checks walk-ins for proper product rotation. Greets and serves customers in a friendly and courteous manner. Provides suggestions and input to supervisor. Actively solves problems wherever possible. Works harmoniously with coworkers. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of basic math. Knowledge of basic baking techniques. Knowledge of food safety sanitation regulations and processes. Ability to effectively communicate. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Physical Requirements: Occasionally lift up to 50lbs. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
