This Director of Professional Services position is with Indian Health Service (Department of Health and Human Services) in Parker, AZ.
The Director of Professional Services provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to ensure alignment with IHS objectives, high-quality health care delivery, and compliance with applicable policies and standards. Position is located at the Colorado River Service Unit, Parker, AZ. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
Key duties:
• Strategic Leadership - Partners with executive leadership to develop and implement policies, plans, and performance measures across multiple departments while ensuring regulatory and accreditation compliance. Operational Management - Evaluates organizational structure, resource utilization, and effectiveness to optimize operations and implement corrective actions as needed. Reporting & Quality Assurance - Conducts audits and operational assessments and delivers regular reports to executive leadership and the Governing Board to ensure the highest quality of services. Compliance, Contracting & Leadership - Interprets IHS directives, oversees contracting and acquisition per federal requirements, represents the organization with external entities, and provides administrative direction to ensure compliance, organizational alignment, and employee development. Supervisory Responsibility - Directly supervises employees across multiple disciplines including Pharmacy, Social Work, Laboratory, Radiology, Physical Therapy, Public Health Education, Nutrition, and Administrative Support.

Individual Occupational Requirements BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): General Schedule Qualification Standards - General Medical and Healthcare Series 0601 Education: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-14: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of Healthcare executive with specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Directing multidisciplinary healthcare programs; developing and implementing policies, operational goals, and performance measures; evaluating program effectiveness and compliance; resolving complex operational and program issues; allocating personnel and resources; establishing performance expectations; supporting staff development; implementing corrective actions; and advising executive leadership to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality healthcare services. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
