Food Safety Manager

This Food Safety Manager position is with Sprouts Farmers Market in Phoenix, AZ. Overview At Sprouts Farmers Market, helping people live and eat better starts with maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming stores. As the Food Safety Manager - Pest Control, you will lead the day-to-day management of Sprouts' pest prevention and sanitation programs across our stores. You will partner with store teams, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify risks, support corrective actions, analyze trends, and drive continuous improvement. This position is located at our Store Support Office in Phoenix, Arizona, and operates on a hybrid schedule (in office Tuesday - Thursday). Overview of Responsibilities • Manage and support Sprouts' pest management program and escalation processes across all stores and supply chain operations. • Monitor pest activity, service reports, customer complaints, audit findings, and work order trends to identify risks and drive timely corrective actions. • Partner with store teams, StoreCare, Facilities, Supply Chain, and pest management vendors to prevent, investigate, and resolve pest-related issues. • Manage pest-related escalations and ensure timely communication, follow-up, root cause analysis, and sustainable resolution. • Develop, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure program effectiveness, compliance, and continuous improvement. • Conduct trend analysis to identify recurring issues, emerging risks, and opportunities to improve pest prevention and sanitation performance. • Support health department and regulatory interactions related to pest management and assist with corrective action planning and implementation. • Monitor vendor performance through scorecards, service reviews, corrective actions, and routine business meetings to ensure compliance with company expectations. • Support pest management vendor relationships, service levels, and budget tracking while identifying opportunities for operational improvements. • Evaluate pest-related risks and implement preventive measures that protect public health, product quality, regulatory compliance, and brand reputation. • Support sanitation and pest prevention initiatives in high-risk operational areas, including produce wet racks, bulk departments, receiving areas, and waste handling locations. • Develop and maintain training materials, guidance documents, and best practices related to pest management and sanitation. • Conduct store assessments, audits, and field visits to verify compliance and identify opportunities for improvement. • Develop and present reports, dashboards, and trend analyses that inform operational decision-making and risk mitigation efforts. • Partner with Construction, Facilities, and Real Estate teams to support pest prevention and sanitation requirements during new store openings, remodels, and facility improvements. • Provide food safety and pest management support during regulatory inspections, incident investigations, recalls, store openings, and special projects. • Serve as a subject matter resource for store teams and business partners regarding pest management, sanitation, and environmental health requirements. • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Public Health, Environmental Health, or a related field; equivalent experience considered. • 3- 5 years of experience in pest management, environmental health, food safety, or facility management within a multi-location retail, grocery, or foodservice environment. • Strong knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) principles, and exclusion techniques. • Experience working with vendors or service providers and supporting performance management through KPIs, service reviews, and corrective actions.. • Knowledge of FDA Food Code, state/local health regulations, and food safety audit standards. • HACCP certification or must obtain within 12 months of hire. • CP-FS, ACE, or other pest management certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain). • Strong understanding of retail store operations, especially perishable departments and back-of-house sanitation requirements. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with SmartSheet, ServiceChannel, or similar work order/tracking systems is a plus. Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand, walk, and conduct physical audits in active retail environments. • Must be able to travel regularly to stores; some overnight travel may be required. • Able to lift and move objects up to 40 lbs. • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions including cold storage and food prep areas.
