This Health System Specialist position is with Military Treatment Facilities under DHA (Department of Defense) in Fort Huachuca, AZ.
About the Position: This position is located within Raymond W Bliss Army Health Center, Fort Huachuca, AZ. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Key duties:
• Maintain patient safety policies, programs, and practices in accordance with Quality Management Program principles and numerous applicable regulations.
• Implement a process to receive and centrally manage patient safety reports from Military Treatment Facility staff and/or patients or visitors.
• Train staff as appropriate in the patient safety and process improvement concepts in order to promote their role as team members, team leaders, and recorders.
• Provide feedback to staff regarding the identification and follow-up of patient safety events, lessons learned, and corrective actions.
• Comply with directives in preparing annual and cyclic planning documents.
• Assist in the planning, development and implementation of the patient safety and performance improvement programs, patient safety policies and procedures.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) developing processes to manage patient safety reports to promptly investigate healthcare delivery errors; 2) providing guidance to staff members in the areas of risk assessment and analysis; and 3) recommending action or adjustments as necessary to achieve a safe patient care environment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
