This Human Resources Assistant position is with Veterans Health Administration (Department of Veterans Affairs) in Phoenix, AZ.
This Human Resources Assistant position is established in VHA Workforce Management and Consulting's Human Resources Operations Office. This position uniquely specializes in providing administrative and technical direction and support to the credentialing operations. Therefore, this position is internally referred to as a Credentialing Assistant.
Key duties:
• The functions of the Credentialing Assistant are critical to accreditation and for assuring safe patient care. The major duties of the HR Assistant (Recruitment) position include but are not limited to: Supports all credentialing and privileging functions Ensures compliance with guidelines of the Department of Veterans Affairs, The Joint Commission (TJC), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Government Accountability Office (GAO) and other reviewers as appropriate Collecting data to ensure qualified health care professionals are providing appropriate care in appropriate settings Audits all required credentials for authenticity and veracity in accordance with TJC standards and VHA policies and procedures Identifies variances in documentation and resolves discrepancies Monitors licensure, registration and certification expirations for licensed providers Authorized user of a Government Purchase Card, responsible for meeting standards of documentation and reconciliation of the purchases as set forth in financial policy Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday Compressed/Flexible: May be available at supervisor's discretion. Telework: This position may be authorized for ad hoc telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process. Ad hoc is defined as occasional, non-recurring telework. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. This is not a remote position. Return to Office (RTO): RTO mandates are in effect and selectees will be required to report to in-person work five days per week unless they are approved for an exception or an exemption. Any approval for an RTO exception, exemption, or extension will happen after a conditional job offer, but before a final job offer. Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/13/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify for this Human Resources Assistant GS-07 based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
