This Information Technology Specialist position is with Forest Service (Department of Agriculture) in Phoenix, AZ. This position is located in Business Operations, Chief Information Office (CIO). CIO oversees the Forest Service's information technology and resources to support mission priorities. Key duties: • Leads and coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of IT systems, applications, and infrastructure solutions that support Forest Service mission needs. • Provides expert technical guidance on system design, configuration, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and alignment with agency IT policies and standards. • Analyzes complex IT issues, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions across the full system life cycle, including integration with existing systems and emerging technologies. • Partners with internal customers, leadership, contractors, and external agencies to refine requirements, develop design specifications, and ensure effective implementation of IT capabilities. • Develops new methods, approaches, standards, and procedures for IT specialty areas; interpret and apply policies and guidelines where they are ambiguous or incomplete. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-12 grade level: Applicants must have one-year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11. Qualifying specialized experience is defined as meeting three or more of the following: Interpreting and recommending enforcement of IT policies Standards, and guidelines; conducting analyses and recommending resolutions of complex issues affecting IT specialty areas Translating functional requirements into design specifications Assisting customers in installing applications and troubleshooting post-installation problems and /or Reviewing general business and functional requirements and recommending solutions AND Information Technology (IT) related experience must also demonstrate each of the nine competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
