This Investigations Expert, OSINT/SOCMINT, WWOI position is with Amazon in Goodyear, AZ.
Our operations network, known for its speed, accuracy, and exceptional service, delivers millions of packages to Amazon customers every day. To keep our operations network secure and ensure operational continuity, we are looking for a skilled and analytically driven professional to join our team as an Investigations Expert. In this key role, you will provide investigations as a service, independently managing and resolving difficult theft and fraud incidents, policy violations, and security-related incidents. You will bring deep investigative expertise, sound judgement, and a data-driven approach to your work, acting as a trusted subject matter expert for the business and a key contributor to the team's overall performance.
Key job responsibilities
- Independently manage, develop, and resolve difficult theft and fraud investigations
- Author accurate and timely formal investigation reports; ensure outputs are clear, evidence-based, and proportionate
- Manage investigations within the approved case management system; maintain data quality and timeliness
- Conduct data analysis and deep dives on investigative data to identify trends, patterns, and systemic vulnerabilities
- Support the Senior Investigations Manager with complex investigations and assist with the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of key investigative dashboards tracking shrink and loss metrics
- Act as a subject matter expert and escalation point for Investigations Specialists and cross-functional partners
A day in the life
As an Investigations Expert, you will be a skilled and largely autonomous practitioner within the investigations team, managing a caseload of difficult and complex investigations while supporting the Senior Investigations Manager and contributing to team-wide quality and capability. On a daily basis, you will:
- Independently investigate difficult theft and fraud incidents, policy violations, and security-related events
- Receive, assess, triage, and prioritize escalations by severity, impact, scope, and scale - exercising sound judgement with limited supervision
- Conduct thorough investigative actions to identify trends, patterns, and root causes; compile all relevant information into a comprehensive evidential packet
- Identify key persons of interest and conduct interviews, including in sensitive or legally complex matters
- Author final investigation reports that provide the business with actionable, well-evidenced, and proportionate resolutions
- Act as a principal investigative point of contact and subject matter expert for internal and external departments (e.g., Legal, HR, Operations, Outside Counsel)
- Maintain a high standard of investigative quality through regular self-audits and peer reviews of investigations and investigative data
- Support the Senior Investigations Manager with complex cases and contribute to overall Security and Loss Prevention goals and objectives
- Travel domestically and internationally to support other teams and business units
About the team
Working in partnership with our stakeholders, Security and Loss Prevention secures the Amazon supply chain end-to-end and promotes security during business conversations. The Investigations team is a support function to Security and Loss Prevention Field Operations, responsible for the management, development, and conclusion of investigative activity. Our team provides support, guidance, and direction on a broad range of investigative issues - from theft of inventory and workplace incidents to complex, sophisticated fraud involving multiple bad actors, stakeholders, and marketplaces.
Basic Qualifications
- Associate's degree, or CISSP, CISA, CISM or other security certification
- 3+ years of fraud identification and detection, investigation and analysis for root causing and providing suitable preventive mechanisms, or 3+ years of people management experience
- 1+ years of using case management system, reviewing cases, determining appropriate processes and policies that apply to a specific situation, and resolving a case or establishing/executing a case management plan experience
- Experience in conducting investigative work, including claimant, witness, and target employee interviews, investigative data analysis, and production of investigative documentation
- Experience in investigations case management
- Experience in MS Office including Excel, or experience with computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of SQL at an intermediate level, including: compile queries, subqueries, aggregation/grouping, data modification, etc.
- Driver's license
- • Relevant industry certification (e.g., CFE, PCI) and/or Wicklander-Zulawski Non-Confrontational Interview Accreditation (Level 1 or 2)
- • Proficiency in one or more languages relevant to the hiring geography, in addition to business-level English

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
