Lead Recreation Fee Technician

This Lead Recreation Fee Technician position is with National Park Service (Department of the Interior) in Grand Canyon, AZ. You will serve as a Lead Recreation Fee Technician with National Park Service. This position is located in the Visitor & Resources Protection section of Grand Canyon National Park. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 night per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. GS-06 Salary: $45,409 (Step 01) to $59,031 (Step 10). First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate. Key duties: • Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Leads three or more full-time employees on a regular and recurring basis in which the highest subordinate grade level is GS-05. Collects a variety of fees for a National Park. Creates new accountability records for the tracking of fee collection transactions and activities. Assists higher level personnel with auditing fee collection program components/systems (e.g., cash registers, road/trail registers, honor systems, automated fee machines (AFMs)). Assists in completing audit paperwork and documenting findings. Provides on the job training, mentoring, and coaching to employees, volunteers, and/or interns in accordance with established procedures and practices. Answers questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives, etc. and obtains needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that come up. Reports to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees, and on behavior problems. Qualifications: Qualifications: All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement - 09/17/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Competitive candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level: Experience: To qualify, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience MUST include the following: (1) providing information or assistance to the public in a business or recreation setting; (2) instructing groups of people or individuals; (3) compiling and analyzing information to report; (4) handling, tracking, or depositing monies; (5) using software programs to maintain fee and stock data; (6) resolving issues that arise in the remittance process and assisting staff with fee issues; and (7) using tools or equipment (e.g., cash registers, calculators, etc.) to make sales transactions. You must include hours per week worked on your resume. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
