This Lead Recreation Fee Technician (Seasonal) position is with National Park Service (Department of the Interior) in Grand Canyon, AZ.
Collect and account for fees at various locations interacting with visitors and sharing information. Serve as front-line representative to answer questions and offer guidance to guests. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for these positions are variable due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April - May 2027. Key duties:
• Some of the Lead Recreation Fee Technician Standard Duties include but are not limited to: Provide on the job training, mentoring, and coaching to employees, volunteers, and/or interns in accordance with established procedures and practices. Additional duties for GS-06: Lead at least three full-time employees performing duties associated with the collection of fee revenue and donations collected from the public under the authority of Federal laws and regulations such as the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA). Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc. Perform assignments in accordance with all regulations governing the handling of government funds. Work to resolve difficult or sensitive problems associated with the collection, remittance, and deposit of fee revenue and donations. Additional duties for GS-07: Lead three or more full-time employees on a regular and recurring basis in which the highest subordinate grade level is GS-06. Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, and assure that each employee has enough work to keep busy. Keep in touch with the status and progress of work and make day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, obtaining assistance from the supervisor on problems that may arise. Instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials, and supplies.
Qualifications:

To qualify for this position at the GS-06 level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by the close of the announcement: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: fee collection, accounting or financial duties to include operating a point-of-sale system; using an automated financial system to perform accounting and/or financial transactions; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial record; resolving issues that arise in the remittance process and assisting staff with fee issues. You must include hours per week worked. To qualify for this position at the GS-07 level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by the close of the announcement: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: collecting and depositing recreational facility use fees in accordance with established regulations; verifying the accuracy of fee records and correcting errors, if applicable; providing guidance for performing technically challenging duties associated with collections, deposits, or expenditure of fee revenue and donations; training, employees, volunteers or interns in fee program tasks and job techniques; and providing current and accurate information to visitors. Additional examples of specialized experience include, but not limited to, accounting or financial duties to include operating a point-of-sale system; using an automated financial system to perform accounting and/or financial transactions; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial record; resolving issues that arise in the remittance process and assisting staff with fee issues. You must include hours per week worked. Please also include the grade level of any federal positions. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
