POKER ROOM DIRECTOR

Job Title: Poker Room Director Department: Poker Room Gaming License: Class III FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: General Manager Summary Responsible for managing, monitoring, and controlling the Poker Room operation and its Team Members. Ensures efficient operation and outstanding service according to company policies to maximize company profits. Oversees the creation of player accounts and player ratings, the protection of Casino assets and the integrity of the gaming tables. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly manages the Poker Room Shift Managers in the Poker Room. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Team Members. Also directly supervises  non-supervisory employees, the coordinators. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. A Director level leader is expected to actively support ECMs in their professional and academic goals through: •    Strategic Oversight: Set strategic priorities for ECM development in alignment with organizational objectives. Ensure that developmental initiatives are integrated into departmental plans. •    Culture Building: Foster a culture that values continuous learning, professional advancement, and the sharing of knowledge across teams. •    Cross-Team Initiatives: Champion and facilitate cross-functional developmental programs, promoting collaboration and the exchange of best practices. •    Program Evaluation: Regularly assess the effectiveness of the Pathways to Success programs, soliciting feedback and making data-driven improvements. •    Leadership Pipeline: Identify and nurture high-potential talent, preparing future leaders through targeted development opportunities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Enforces the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community Gaming Enterprises mission statement. • Monitors and controls day-to-day Poker Room operations including patron relations to successfully achieve a cost effective and profitable Poker Room. • Ensures Team Member/patron compliance to regulatory, departmental and casino policies and procedures for efficient gaming operations. • Supervises smooth, effective day-to-day operation of the Poker Room and support personnel. • Maintains business forecasting, work schedule andpayroll for all Poker Room Team Members.. • Responsible for security in the Poker Room in conjunction with the Security department. • Responsible for detecting and acting against cheating, fraud and other disruptions as company policy dictates. • Develops, institutes and monitors marketing promotions in conjunction with the Marketing Department that includes prize giveaways, jackpot funds and tournaments as well as gets involved in new product/game development recommendations. • Monitors promotional spend and actively manages the House Promotional Fund (HPF) • Thorough understanding of the Poker Tournament Directors Association (TDA) rules and regulations. • Responsible for spreading card games promoting high limit games, and developing and executing tournaments. • Designs and implements long-term training and development programs for all staff members in the Poker Room. • Dedicated to the recruitment and training of Tribal Members, consistent with the casino’s community and Indian preference guidelines. • Responsible for annual forecasting and budgeting process. • Monitors and approves purchases of supplies and other operational products. • Establishes and implements Poker Room policies and procedures, manuals, Poker Room dealer handbook, Poker Room rule book and Team Member job descriptions in conjunction with the Human Resources Department. • Acts as a liaison between other departments such as but not limited to the Cage, Security, Maintenance and Food and Beverage • Streamline activities to improve operations, promote efficiency, increase cost effectiveness, and ensure quality. • Responsible for the enforcement of all applicable regulations, under the code of Federal Regulations, Title 31, Chapter X, as it pertains to this position. This includes, but is not limited to, observing, and reporting suspicious activity, of either customers or employees, as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations. • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all applicable regulations under the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 31, Chapter X, by attending Title 31/Anti-Money Laundering training, provided by Casino Arizona, at least once a year or more if required by management and outlined in the Title 31 Minimum Internal Controls. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; 10 years gaming (including Poker Room) experience; 5 years of management experience in a high-volume casino Poker Room operation Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess good PC skills and have knowledge of Spreadsheet software (e.g. Excel) and Word Processing software (e.g. MSWord). Bravo Software knowledge preferred. Other Qualifications Must be knowledgeable about promotions and advertising, marketing programs and public relations as well as tournament experience. Must have strong people management and analytical skills. Must have excellent problem-solving techniques along with communication skills. Must be able to motivate others and handle more than one function at a time. Must be able to work harmoniously with both Team Members and management personnel. Language Skills Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
