Special Assistant to the Regional Director (Temporary Assignment NTE 2 Years)

This Special Assistant to the Regional Director (Temporary Assignment NTE 2 Years) position is with Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (Other Agencies and Independent Organizations) in Phoenix, AZ. This position is located in Division of Risk Management Supervision and is responsible for a broad array of functions to assist the Regional Director in overseeing bank supervision and regional operations. Additional selections may be made from this announcement to fill identical vacancies that arise later. The duty location is determined upon selection. The selectee will remain at their current duty location. Key duties: • At the full performance level, major duties include: Researches and suggests solutions to technical and procedural problems involving bank supervision activities. Prepares speeches, presentations, briefings, summaries, memoranda, and letters for the Regional and/or Deputy Regional Director(s). Communicates directly with the highest levels of management inside and outside the Region and facilitates the flow of information about bank supervision and regional operations internally and externally. Plans, coordinates, and executes regional management meetings for both internal and external participants. Participates as necessary in conferences, forums, and meetings with regional staff. Works closely with Divisional, Regional, and Field Office staff on multiple projects under tight time frames. Prioritizes and anticipates issues and activities that require the personal attention of the Regional Director. Manages the completion of periodic and impromptu high-level regional reporting. In the absence of a Regional Internal Review Coordinator, ensures that appropriate internal controls are in place at the Regional and Field Offices. Qualifications: Qualifying experience is credited from private and public sectors, including paid and unpaid service (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps). Volunteer service builds competencies that translate to paid work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. See OPM's General Schedule Qualification Standards for details. CG-13: Applicants must complete one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CG-12 level or above in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Consulting with and providing guidance to supervisors and senior management in developing deadlines, completing projects, and overseeing other activities related to the process of examining the risk management or compliance programs of insured depository institutions. CG-14: Applicants must complete one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CG-13 level or above in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Providing guidance to supervisors and senior leaders on setting deadlines, planning, designing, and executing programs, projects, and studies related to risk and compliance for insured depository institutions; AND Presenting findings and recommendations to leadership. In addition to the qualification requirements above, you must meet the following selective factor: Must be a commissioned examiner.
