This Supervisory Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) position is with Indian Health Service (Department of Health and Human Services) in Chinle, AZ. The position is located within the Chinle Service Unit, Division of Clinical Services and Urgent Care Services in Chinle, Arizona. Its primary purpose is to provide professional and technical supervision to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants assigned to Emergency Department Pod B. Provides comprehensive medical care to pediatric and adult patients within a multidisciplinary healthcare facility. Key duties: • Total Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Nurse Practitioner Total Compensation | Pay (ihs.gov) Examines, diagnoses, treats, and refers lower-acuity emergency department patients, including obtaining health histories and performing physical examinations. Reviews medical records, orders diagnostic tests, develops treatment plans, provides medications and other therapeutic care, and documents patient care. Supervises Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, including orientation, performance appraisal, competency assessment, credentialing, training, discipline, and leave approval. Supports provider staffing, workload management, performance improvement, and efficient delivery of high-quality urgent and emergency care. Promotes communication and cooperation among clinical, administrative, and support departments and participates in Medical Staff, departmental, training, and collaborative activities. Qualifications: To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: For Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) positions, applicants must possess a graduate or higher-level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: Applicants for Advanced Practice Nurse positions must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position. The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Providing emergency clinical care through patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, diagnostic testing, referrals, and education; supervising Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants; managing provider performance and workforce activities; participating in clinical improvement initiatives; and coordinating efficient, high-quality emergency services across clinical and administrative departments.
