Telecommunications Manager

Compensation: $147,945 to $192,331 Annually


This Telecommunications Manager position is with Forest Service (Department of Agriculture) in Phoenix, AZ. This position is located with the Chief Information Office (CIO) and manages the Information Resources environment for the Forest Service. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating with field and Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) and leadership to meet information technology infrastructure, business applications, cybersecurity and service delivery requirements. Key duties: • Provides senior leadership and management direction to direct reports while effectively planning and managing the Forest Service’s Land Mobile Radio • Develop strategies for planning and implementation of the Land Mobile Radio services and major agency programs of national scope and impact. • Analyzes and makes changes to business practices and policies to align with government-wide regulations and policies and sets annual priorities of work for the directorate. • Provides advice on the relationship of major policy decisions and program objectives on all proposals affecting the NRE land mobile radio portfolio and CIO programs. • Keeps abreast of trends and practices to anticipate upcoming changes in any technical or administrative aspect of the unit. • Provides technical and administrative supervision to employees in a variety of professional and non-professional occupations. Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: Developing strategies for planning and implementation of the Land Mobile Radio services; Analyzing and making changes to business practices and policies to align with organization regulations and policies; Providing advice on the relationship of major policy decisions and program objectives on all proposals affecting land mobile radio portfolio and programs; Responsible for the interim and annual review of program operations and the maintenance of performance standards; Providing technical and administrative supervision to employees in a variety of professional and non-professional occupations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
