This TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (ADVANCED AIR OPERATIONS) position is with Air Combat Command (Department of the Air Force) in Davis Monthan AFB, AZ.

Key duties:
• Instructs students in classroom, laboratory and field through assigned blocks of instruction focused on jump operations. Plans, coordinates, and validates advanced air operations training of instructional objectives and design. Maintains, updates and develops lesson plans, study guides and workbooks. Maintains a collection of instructional materials specific to airborne operations conducted at the GA FTU. Provides continuity on Air Operations Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs).

CONTINUATION OF CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT.... This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. IAW SA-2020-25 This position requires a physical/medical examination. The physical/medical requirements of this position as determined are: considerable and strenuous physical exertion, such as frequent climbing of tall ladders, lifting heavy objects over 75 pounds for up to four hours of duration, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, and defending oneself or others against physical attack. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, GS-1712-09 series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Practical knowledge of a wide range of principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of instruction to teach a variety of students with a range of differences such as diverse ages, backgrounds, learning styles, and levels of interest and principles, practices and techniques of operations at a practical level to include knowledge of specific airborne operations procedures, techniques, technology, tactics, systems, equipment and employment methods. OR EDUCATION: Applicant must have successfully completed a Master's, or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited college or university or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related to the position of a Training Instructor. Applicants education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of a Training Instructor. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of instruction to teach a variety of students with a range of differences such as diverse ages, backgrounds, learning styles, and levels of interest. Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of operations at a practical level to include knowledge of specific airborne operations procedures, techniques, technology, tactics, systems, equipment and employment methods. Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs & of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives. Knowledge of flight, safety, parachuting and security programs and operational risk management responsibilities. Skill in accomplishing special training studies and projects. Skill and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
