The primary purpose of the position is to serve as the supervisor of the Boiler Plant, under the supervision of the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor, Engineering Service. The supervisor is accountable for the quality and quantity of work performed by this section. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Administers a utility management and preventative maintenance program and prepares internal systematic review reports as required. Maintaining equipment inventory, equipment histories and repair documents. Oversees operation, maintenance and repair of the utility systems for the medical center, specifically high-pressure steam boilers, chillers, cooling towers, commercial air condition systems and all associated equipment. Conducts inspections of his areas of responsibility to achieve maximum efficiency, comply with VA regulations and that maintenance and operations meet VA standards and medical center established procedures. Plans the duty, leave schedules and work assignments of all employees within the section. Reviews design drawings and inspects work performed by contractors as to compliance with design intent, applied local and national codes and the best or most acceptable trade practices. Directs the activities of the shop within the operating budget. The supervisor directs the development of preventative maintenance schedules, work, alterations and modifications for utility systems Government Purchase Card holder for Boiler Plant/HVAC section. Note: Incumbent will hold a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) certification. If not already certified upon taking position, must be certified within 120 days of employment.
