This Voucher Examiner position is with Indian Health Service (Department of Health and Human Services) in Chinle, AZ.
The position performs accounts receivable support functions through the follow-up process of all outstanding patient accounts within the Business Office. This position is located in the Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Administrative Services, Business Office, Patient Accounts, Chinle, Arizona. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
Key duties:
• Reviewing invoices, vouchers, travel claims, and other payment documents. Verifying supporting documentation, calculations, and funding availability. Ensuring payments comply with federal regulations and agency policies. Resolving discrepancies and coordinating with vendors, employees, and program offices. Conducting quality-control reviews and identifying potential errors or improper payments
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to perform the work of this position at the GS-04 level. OR 2 years above high school level. This education must have obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100% to qualify for this GS-04 grade level. GS-05 Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: processing third party health plan transactions, compiling reports, coordinating collection for third party reimbursement, maintaining automated accounts receivable ledger, posting claim payments, monitoring claim payment rollover to secondary and tertiary billing, generate Aging summary reports, reviewing patients accounts. OR Successfully completed 4 years of education beyond the high school level. Education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-05 grade level. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Coordinating collection for third party reimbursement, maintaining automate accounts receivable ledger, posting claim payments, monitoring claim payment rollover to secondary and tertiary billing, generate Aging summary reports, reviewing patient accounts, resolving difficult reconciliations. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
