Adjunct Assistant Professor of Practice (Part-Time)

This Adjunct Assistant Professor of Practice (Part-Time) position is with University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. Serve as an instructor for up to one course during the Fall and Spring semesters, or serve as a co-instructor or teaching assistant for up to one course during each semester. Participate in and support student research activities within the U of A Genetic Counseling Graduate Program. Participate in the annual review of course curriculum and program admissions and contribute to service activities within the Program, College, and University. Participate in continuing education and professional development activities related to course design, course instruction, teaching methods, and other training opportunities identified by the U of A Genetic Counseling Graduate Program. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of, understanding of, and ability to teach on the topics of related to genetic counseling. Skill in counseling and risk communication techniques. Knowledge and application of the principles of health literacy and inclusive excellence. Understanding of and contribution to the department’s teaching mission. Possess and use strong written and verbal communication skills including public speaking, the ability to draft instructional documents, and the ability to work and interact effectively with all audiences. Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators across a variety of units in a complex academic environment. Ability to plan and achieve short- and long-term goals driven by the mission and goals of the graduate programs. Possess and use strong organizational skills, problem solving abilities and abilities to maintain discretion and diplomacy toward sensitive and confidential information.
