This Flow Cytometry Core, Lead, Research Office (COM-P) position is with University of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ. Instrument and Maintenance: Perform daily startup, calibration, routine maintenance, and operation of all flow cytometers and cell sorters, specifically BD Biosciences instruments (Canto), Cytek spectral instruments (5 laser Aurora CS, 5 laser Aurora analyzer, 3 laser Northern lights), Thermofisher (4 laser Attune NxT), and Lyse wash assistant (BD). As requested by different users, performs panel design, unmixing and other reagent optimization services. Conduct routine troubleshooting and coordinate timely repairs and service maintenance with manufacturers. Cell Sorting Sample Processing: Operate high-speed cell sorters for simple/complex experiments, ensuring post-sort sample integrity for downstream applications such as sequencing or culture. Experience with optimal sample preparation and handling procedures, including the use of cell strainers and compensation beads, to ensure high-quality samples for analysis and sorting. User Support: Help users with any assisted usage as required by projects. Assist core director to consult with researchers on experimental design, protocol development (including multi-parameter panel design), and data acquisition/analysis. Assist core director to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials for all facility operations. Data Analysis Management: Assist core director on collaborative projects with internal faculty. Work with core director on high parameter data analysis. Ensure detailed records of experiments, outcomes, and instrument usage are maintained. Contracts and Others: Perform flow cytometry work as per designated contracts received at the core. Help flow core director with technological advancement of the core. Knowledge, Skills Abilities: Ability to influence others outside of own job area on policies, practices, and procedures. Ability to communicate direction from leadership and articulate impact on staff work objects. Knowledge of professional concepts, principles, and practices within a specialized discipline, with the ability to apply this expertise or integrate knowledge across related disciplines to support sound decision-making and effective general management.
