Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor

This Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor position is with Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (Department of Agriculture) in Phoenix, AZ. If selected, you will serve in the capacity of a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor for the Phoenix Rearing Facility (PRF) with full responsibility to carry out a complex maintenance program and supervise the work of employees assigned to the maintenance work unit. The mission of the PRF is mass rearing and release of sterile insects as part of the Navel Orangeworm (NOW) area-wide control program, and other programs or projects as directed. Key duties: • The duties may include, but are not limited to: • Prepares procurement requests to obtain materials and equipment, and interacts with industry sources for supplies, services, and emergency call-out • Plans and lays out carpentry, sheet metal, plastic, HVAC and electrical projects. • Monitors and inspects the condition of the facility’s electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning systems and appliances. • Makes periodic visual and operational inspections of buildings and structures. • Installs, modifies, repairs, maintains, troubleshoots, tests, and loads new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment. • Supervises a full range of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry work at the Phoenix Rearing Facility (PRF). • Exercises technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work Qualifications: To qualify, you must show you have had training and experience of sufficient scope and quality to provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
