This Medical Director, Physician Assistant Program (Associate/Full Professor)(Career Track) position is with University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. Medical Director: Serve as an advocate for the PA Program through active participation in Program leadership, faculty activities, and institutional and professional relationships. Provide clinical and medical leadership to support the development, review, and revision of the curriculum and program-defined competencies and ensure alignment with current practice standards for the PA role in patient care. Provide guidance regarding clinical content, supervised clinical practice experiences, patient safety, professional expectations, and emerging changes in healthcare practice. Collaborate with the Program Director and faculty and participate in accreditation documentation and activities that demonstrate the Medical Director’s ongoing engagement with the Program. Teaching: Develop, review, and revise curriculum consistent with the Program’s mission, goals, learning outcomes, and program-defined competencies. Design, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate assigned courses, learning activities, and assessments across the didactic and clinical phases. Evaluate student performance, provide academic counseling and advisement, and participate in student progress, remediation, and competency-assessment processes. Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of teaching, learning, and curriculum. Service and Program Leadership: Provide leadership on Program committees and initiatives as appointed by the Program Director. Responsibilities may include admissions, assessment and evaluation, continuous quality improvement, accreditation, curriculum review, student progress, faculty development, recruitment and outreach, and other Program priorities. Collaborate with Program leadership, faculty, and staff to collect and analyze programmatic data, identify strengths and areas for improvement, develop appropriate action plans, and monitor the effectiveness of approved changes. Participate in Program, School, University, professional, and community service activities as assigned or appropriate. Scholarship: Engage in scholarly and creative activities consistent with the faculty member’s track and rank. Activities may include educational research, curricular innovation, quality-improvement initiatives, professional presentations, publications, or other forms of scholarly dissemination. Maintain professional development relevant to PA education, clinical practice, accreditation, assessment, and assigned areas of responsibility. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of PA education, the PA profession, current practice standards, adult learning principles, curriculum design, learner assessment, program evaluation, continuous quality improvement, and ARC-PA accreditation requirements. Demonstrated knowledge of the PA profession, current PA practice standards, team-based care, and PA education. Skilled in teaching, curriculum development, analysis of student and program outcomes, accreditation and self-study documentation, committee and project leadership, data-informed decision-making, and effective written and verbal communication. Ability to translate assessment findings and accreditation requirements into practical action plans, collaborate effectively with program leadership, faculty, staff, students, preceptors, and institutional partners, manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and use educational technologies. Ability to demonstrate integrity, collegiality, adaptability, initiative, and commitment to student success, patient safety, and continuous program improvement. Ability to fulfill Principal Faculty responsibilities related to teaching, student assessment and advisement, curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation; and demonstrated communication, collaboration, organizational, and leadership skills.
