This National Infectious Disease Advanced Practice Provider (O-6 Billet) Non-Supervisory position is with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Department of Homeland Security) in Phoenix, AZ. Provides clinical consultation, direct care, training, policy/guideline input, QA/process improvement, outbreak response, data support, and stakeholder coordination. Requires APRN/PA degree, 6+ years clinical experience, licensure, strong communication, independence, and readiness for TDY/shift work. This position is only open to current USPHS officers. USPHS Call to Active Duty (CAD) candidates are not eligible for this position. Key duties: • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform direct patient care and clinical consultation for infectious diseases and transgender care in IHSC facilities. Serve as a medical subject matter expert (SME) with the IHSC infectious disease clinical leadership team providing clinical guidance and advocacy to IHSC providers as needed. Exhibits expertise, or the potential expertise, to develop, plan, and critically evaluate the application of appropriate clinical practice and skills as it relates to management of patients with suspected or confirmed infectious diseases, under the guidance of the National ID Program Lead. Address management of non-compliant patients, special needs populations, and patients with significant deficits in coping skills, thereby requiring continuing professional clinical support. Prepare reports, guidance and educational materials, and perform presentations for various audiences and stakeholders. Collaborate with agency infection surveillance efforts, outbreak investigations and containment activities, pandemic planning and response. Participate and develop quality assurance programs. Effectively communicate with appropriate Federal, State and community agencies. Respond to taskings and requests for information as directed. Reviews and contributes to policies, procedures and clinical practice guidelines as assigned. Participates as a subject matter expert on agency committees to facilitate coordination and integration of projects related to reducing the public health burden of infectious disease in the detention setting. Contribute to agency data management of infectious diseases Work independently, as well as collaboratively as a part of an interdisciplinary team to work to promote public health. Provide IHSC staff with trainings as assigned. Occasional travel as directed for the needs of the agency. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to perform duties in a fast-paced environment without physical limitations. Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time [6-8 Hours]. Performing repeated bending motion. Average manual dexterity for computer operation. Phone/laptop use for telephonic/virtual meetings for extended periods of time.
