This Plumber position is with University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. Performs journeyman level installation, inspection, testing, preventative maintenance and repair of commercial and institutional plumbing systems, including domestic hot and cold water, sanitary sewer, drainage, gas piping, fixtures, and mechanical room equipment (steam). Diagnoses and resolves complex plumbing issues affecting buildings and infrastructure. Independently troubleshoots system failures, leaks, pressure issues, and equipment malfunctions. Responds to emergency service calls, assess risk, implement corrective actions, and restore systems to operational condition with minimal disruption. Inspects joints, valves, pumps, boilers, water heaters, sinks, commodes, tanks, and other plumbing system components to locate malfunctions; repairs and replaces as necessary. Performs periodic planned maintenance work as required including but not limited to exercising valves, rebuilding fixtures, cleaning drinking fountains, and testing drains. Performs inspection, maintenance, and repairs of fire extinguishing systems, including standard testing of related building fire safety equipment. Tests and repairs backflow assemblies. Serves as a role model for safety, workmanship, professionalism, and customer service. Maintain a clean appearance and positive public relations while representing Housing Residential Life. Communicates professionally with building residents, staff, supervisors, contractors, and other trades to coordinate work activities. Participates in Housing Emergency On-Call Program. Performs related duties as assigned or required to meet Housing Residential Life goals and objectives. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of the tools, testing equipment, and materials common to the plumbing trade. Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and safety standards, with the ability to interpret and apply blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation. Knowledge of the mechanical operation of equipment such as pumps, boilers, heaters, and other plumbing components. Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of plumbing systems.
