This Research Technician I (Part-Time), Translational Cardiovascular Research Center - TCRC (Phoenix) position is with University of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ.
Under supervision will perform histology and immunostaining experiments. Be given detailed instruction to acquire images and assist with processing and documenting results under direction of senior laboratory personnel. Follow established safety regulations, laboratory protocols, and institutional guidelines while performing work. Assist with routine maintenance activities for genetically modified mouse colonies under established protocols. Performing rodent work and related experimentation procedures; including dissections, biological compound injections, and glucose tolerance tests. Be capable to maintain laboratory space and equipment to ensure proper operation and cleanliness. Under guidance of senior staff will perform RNA extraction / real time PCR (qPCR), protein extraction and Western blotting. Will become familiar with routine cell culture techniques to support to the overall study objectives and research goals. Will to work closely with postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and principal investigators to support ongoing projects. Attend and participate in lab meetings, journal clubs, and departmental seminars Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to handle the mice, perform cell culture or genotyping. Ability to analyze research results. Ability to report results to the PI and in the laboratory meetings. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.
